GROUP OF STONE AND METALWORK SCULPTURES.

1) Stoneware statue of a seated figure. Tibet, 19th century. The statue depicting a figure in a seated position with legs crossed and hands raised in a mudra. The exterior finished with a lightly applied lacquer with painted accents on the face and hair. 2) Carved stone bust. China. The carving depicting the head of a figure with serene expression and furrowed brow. 3) Cast iron model of a pig and ox. Ming Dynasty or earlier, China. Possibly from a Zodiac set. Each animal standing four square on an oval base. 4) Carved sandstone bust of an official. Ming Dynasty or later, China. Realistic features and wearing a tall hat with longevity fungus design. Mounted on metal stand. 5) Bronze standing figure of Amitabha Buddha. 19th century or earlier, China. Tang style depiction of the “Buddha of Immeasurable Light” surrounded by a flaming mandorla. The reverse with incised calligraphy. SIZE: 1) 7-3/4″ h. 2) 7-3/4″ h. 3) Longest: 10-1/2″ l. 4) 9-1/2″ h. 5) 13-1/2″ h. CONDITION: 1) Scattered chipping and loss to the lacquer, cracks in the stoneware throughout base. 2) General overall wear, small section missing to back of head. 3) Each piece highly oxidated due to age. 4) Typical wear including large chips to hat and ears, nose probably worn down. 5) Some oxidation to the bronze, Mandorla with old firing cracks.
