CLOISONNE ENAMEL CENSER AND COVER.

China. The censer is composed of three parts, including a base, mid section, and cover. The base supported by three elephant mask legs with gilt ears and ivory, the cylindrical body enameled with roundels of flowers amidst vines, leaves, and tendrils, below a floriform extruding rim with similar motif. The mid section of cylindrical form, with gilt band of stylized dragons amidst clouds in the center, between bands of flowers and vines. The cover is of domed form, the center gilt with dragons flying amidst clouds and ocean waves, with a gilt beaded finial depicting ruyi clouds on top. Bottom bears four apocryphal character “”XUANDE”” mark. SIZE: 17-3/4″ h x 16-1/8″ w. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection from a renowned Taiwanese Diplomatic Family – Cai Wanjun (? – 2011), Xu Shaochang (1913–1999), and Ye Gongchao (1904 – 1981).
