*EXPERIMENTAL OR PROTOTYPE WINCHESTER MODEL 37-B SINGLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 14ga. Made for the Alton, IL plant to test the experimental aluminum case 14ga. ammunition. This shotgun is consecutive numbered to another in this auction. It has a 30″ plain bbl with brass bead, beavertail style grasping groove forearm with Model 37 style spring loaded attaching point, highly figured pistol grip stock with Winchester hard rubber buttplate. The receiver resembles a standard Model 37 except it has raised side panels. It has a sliding hammer block and the opening lever will operate either direction which, when operated, retracts the hammer and allows the block to slide into place. Accompanied by letters of provenance from Mr. Hutchinson and also from the former Director of Marketing for Winchester. SN EXP2000. CONDITION: As new. Retains virtually all its original factory finish to both metal and wood with very minor handling and storage marks on the wood with some light surface speckling on the receiver. 4-46799 JR335 (500-1,500)
