LARGE SILK KESI EMBROIDERY OF HERONS AND DEITIES.

China, late 19th century or earlier. The large silk kesi embroidered with the heron and deities in ocean setting motif, woven partially with golden thread, scrolled onto a decorated bronze horizontal bar. Lot is accompanied by images of the tapestry hanging in a magnificent ancestral Victorian home taken in 1897. SIZE: 88″ l x 59-1/4″ w CONDITION: Age related wear, loss of lining, and discoloration, a small amount of pulling has occurred at the top of the embroidery resulting in circles of metallic thread uncoiling. 50660-1 (1,200-1,800) – Lot 3627
