BUSTER BROWN AND TIGE FREESTANDING STORE DISPLAYS.

Extremely scarce set of life-sized Buster Brown and his companion dog Tige, stencil-painted Masonite store display figures for The Brown Shoe Co. of St. Louis, MO. Each set has slots which locks the displays together when assembled. Both Buster and Tige have factory 2″ horizontal notches which may have originally been used to hold shoe literature or premium giveaways. As icons of retro Americana, these late 1950s displays possess a striking pop art appearance and appeal. SIZE: Buster Brown: 31″ w x 68″ h. Tige: 23″ w x 27-3/4″ h. CONDITION: Some surface wear to the areas which dovetail together; some light scattered scuffs and scratches. Otherwise in very good to excellent condition. 1-13932 (1,000-2,000) – Lot 3569
