MODEL 1816 SPRINGFIELD FLINTLOCK MUSKET.

NSN. Cal. 69. Standard configuration with 42″ bbl dated “1826” on lock and “1838” on bbl. Gun is a re-conversion but presents nicely. CONDITION: Very good as reconverted. Welded breech for reconversion is evident as is dissimilar color of lock parts added. Gun otherwise appears orig and complete with solid stock with several small cracks rear of lock, discernible cartouches. A large “R” is carved on right side of buttstock. Remnants of orig brown finish can be found on bbl where protected under bands. Metal otherwise is a mottled brown/iron patina. 51500-63 JS (500-800) – Lot 3566
