TABLETOP CAST IRON CLAMSHELL MUTOSCOPE.A visually attractive machine produced by the Mutoscope company during the early part of the 20th century. These coin-operated devices became a virtual goldmine for the operator. With little effort and little time, one could change the reel card to a new and exciting show. These machines were popular in arcades and other locations as well. It’s hard to believe some of these machines are still in use today. Virtually indestructible and perhaps needing only a die cast worm gear or other small mechanical part, these machines could work until the end of time. This example has had some older restoration to the paint and currently Felix the Cat is available for your entertainment. Side door has new lock, which is not important. Original cash box within and the big plus is there appears to be no damage to the iron castings. An added feature and sometimes found is a lighted marquee, which also gives additional light by means of an opaque glass panel atop the machine. Mechanics are functioning by means of a nickel and coin mechanism appears to be complete. However, some minor adjustment can or should be made. The Felix reel bundle appears to be original and in very good condition. SIZE: 49″ h (including marquee). CONDITION: Older restoration as stated above. 1-13752 (2,250-3,250) – Lot 3556 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2014 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
