1874 PRODUCED MODEL 1873 TRAPDOOR SPRINGFIELD RIFLE.

SN 14050. Cal. 45-70. This is a scarce gun made in the first real year of trapdoor rifle manufacturing; only 5 rifles were produced in 1873. Gun is in correct configuration with early features including “ESA” inspectors cartouche. “1873” dates on breech and lock, long range rear sight, scarce coarse knurled hammer, single-non-stacking sling swivels. CONDITION: Good to very good overall. Metal is grey/brown overall, bbl bands have dissimilar color but are both orig. Markings all discernible in metal. Stock has old refinish with weak barely discernible inspectors cartouche retaining most of a varnished finished with scattered dings, dents and cosmetic defects.
