SEA SERVICE TYPE TOWER PISTOL WITHOUT BELT HOOK.

NSN. Cal. 58. 12″ Tapered round bbl has Birmingham proofs and bbl makers initials at breech end. Lock with unbridled friction frizzen is marked “TOWER” at tail and with crown over “GR” and crowned broad arrow in front of flat faced cock, with line border engraving. Walnut full stock is brass mounted, and has crowned initials stamped at rear of brass sideplate, which has stud hole for belt hook plugged. CONDITION: Good. Iron parts are a smooth dark brown patina. Wood refinished and somewhat worn with some chipping near bbl tang and at rear of lockplate, which does not fit mortise well. Brass has toned back nicely since its last cleaning. Ramrod is a modern replacement. Cock appears to be a later replacement, and lock will not cock. 31377-13 MGM25 (1,500-2,500) – Lot 3534
