FLINTLOCK JAEGER RIFLE BY JACOB FRIESE.

NSN. Cal. 57. Groove diameter, 7 grooves. This lightweight small Jaeger rifle has 23″ swamped, octagon bbl engraved “Iacob Friese” on top flat. Cambered brass lockplate is deeply chamfered and is fitted with non-bridled friction frizzen and flat faced serpentine cock. Relatively plain walnut full stock is brass mounted and is fitted with wooden trigger guard reinforced by brass band. Stock features right hand cheekpiece and has some relief carving from bbl tang with a sea monster transition of cheekpiece to relief carving of archer and acorns at rear. CONDITION: Good. Bbl cleaned to bright pewter. Engraving on bbl looks fresh. Brass is toning after cleaning. Wood with some oil rubbed in over what may be orig finish. Stock appears sound with an area of filling in front of trigger guard finial. Lock will not cock, but does hold and fire at half cock. Bore is good. 51153-2 MGM51 (3,500-5,500) – Lot 3513
