HIGH QUALITY FLINTLOCK FOWLER BY PIERRE DE SAINTE, FATHER-IN-LAW OF NICHOLAS NOEL BOUTET.

NSN. Cal. 60. 31-3/4″ Octagon to round bbl transitions to 16 sided and then through wedding band. There are three gold poincon at breech end, as well as engraved and gold damascened decoration with name and Versailles address on top flat. Heavily chamfered lock has scroll transition to rebated tail, along with unbridled friction frizzen, and serpentine cock. Fiddle figured full length walnut stock is relief filed iron mounted, and has well carved relief scroll behind bbl tang and thimble. A green velvet cheek pad has been mounted to comb with silver braid and rounded tacks. CONDITION: Good. Bbl is mostly a brown to gray patina, vent re-worked. Lock and furniture are polished to gray brown with silver highlights. Stock has probably an old refinish over many light marks and dents, and appears to be sound, with repaired crack from front of sideplate 6″ along bbl channel on left side, and a small dutchman under lock below cock. 51701-6 MGM55 (3,000-4,000) – Lot 3510
