SUPERB LONG BARRELED FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL BY PIERRE KLENKE A SELLE.

NSN. Cal. 56. Dating from around 1700 this very high quality pistol has 12-1/2″ round bbl with filed in decoration at transition from octagonal breech section, top of which is engraved “P. K”. Rounded and cambered lock has unbridled friction frizzen and tall serpentine cock, both of which have fine relief scroll carving. Makers name and address are at bottom. Figured European walnut full stock is iron mounted with relief scrolled sideplate, large knob grip with mustachioed gentleman mask on bottom, and nicely filed ramrod pipes. Stock is scroll relief carved at sides of bbl tang, and around thimble. Pierced, scrolled device is at top of grip with bottom stamped “No. 13.” CONDITION: Fine. Metal parts cleaned to light gray patina over some scattered light pitting. Stock carving remains clear. Grip metal is somewhat away from wood. 2″ piece is missing from muzzle, otherwise stock appears sound. Mechanically excellent. 51162-14 MGM17 (1,750-2,750) – Lot 3503
