PAIR OF GOOD QUALITY FLINTLOCK HOLSTER OR DUELING PISTOLS BY JOHN UTTING OF BIRMINGHAM AND LONDON.NSN. Cal. 68. This fairly crisp pair of large caliber pistols have 9-1/8″ steel bbls with octagonal breech sections marked “BOROUGH LONDON” (John Utting worked at Burough Street London ca 1812). Bbls are also stamped with Birmingham proofs. Chamfered locks with rebated tails have semi-waterproof pans, roller frizzens, and serpentine cocks. Walnut full stocks with flat sided bag grips are iron mounted. Trigger guards have stylized pineapple finials. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls are polished bright, and this treatment appears to be original, as all marks and decorations are crisp, with no evidence of browning in protected areas. Stocks are sound with a considerable number of light marks and dings in their orig finish. Orig horn tipped ramrods have worm tails.
