*MAUSER C96 RED 9 MILITARY, PRUSSIAN EAGLE, WITH STOCK.

SN 100285. Cal: 9 mm. Standard configuration Red 9 with 5.5″ bbl, having fixed front and slip in 50-500 rear sight. Usual 3-line address on top of chamber with full SN on left chamber flat. Crown/Crown U proofing on left side of bbl extension with inspection Crown/J on right side. Short extractor and dual lug firing pin. Grooved follower as often used to better feed the 9mm cartridge. Prussian eagle on forward frame and 2-line Mauser address on right side of frame. Late configuration, Red 9 oak grips. Replacement lanyard ring. Major parts rust blued. Fire blued extractor, bolt stop, rear sight, trigger and safety. Pistol is fully matching, including extended disassembly that shows a matching floorplate, sear, and locking block. Each of the grips is correctly matched with the full SN. Shoulder stock has been lightly refinished with scattering of handling dings and 8 nail holes have been filled on front surface. Forced matching lug with salt blue finish numbered “285”. PROVENANCE: The Frank H. Wheaton, III Collection. CONDITION: Approximately 98% lightly recoated rust blue without having been polished. Fire blued parts with approximately 75% orig heat treatment with only the bolt stop having been touched up. Excellent, crisp grips. Generally bright bore with mild erosion in grooves. Perfect manual mechanics. Stock lightly refinished, acceptance proof barely visible, with refurbishment having been extended to the hinge and lug. 51517-2 (3,500-5,500) C&R – Lot 3451
