*UNUSUAL CHINESE COPY OF MAUSER 1930 COMMERCIAL, MARKED WAUSER, WITH LEATHER HOLSTER.SN 29308. Cal. 30. Interesting Chinese copy of a Mauser 1930 Commercial with 5″ bbl having fixed front sight and slip-in 50-1000 rear sight. Short extractor and 2-lug firing pin. Top of chamber with crudely lettered Mauser address. Left chamber flat with an elongated Crown/U, the right chamber flat with a scriptic “M” (instead of antler proof). On the left side of the frame is a WAUSER logo. A coarsely lettered and misspelled 3-line address is on the right side of frame. Full SN appears on left side of bbl extension, top of bolt, and on the back of the frame just under the locking lever. Most of the small parts, including the entire sight bar, are salt blued with the bolt, hammer and sub-frame appearing as stained metal in-the-white. Serrated walnut grips that are thicker than those used by Mauser retained by a flat-headed screw. Lanyard ring made from crudely coiled and now separating round wire. Near excellent holster with two attached pouches for stripper clips and brass rings on obverse surface for shoulder strap that has separated into several segments. PROVENANCE: The Frank H. Wheaton, III Collection. CONDITION: Approx 97% salt blue over metal that shows irregular polishing and a few surface imperfections, expected freckling on grip straps. Unfinished metal with moderate staining. Crisp grips. Generally bright bore with sharp rifling and mild oxidation. Perfect manual mechanics. VG-excellent holster with losses at flap, repaired retaining flap for forward stripper clip and separated shoulder strap. 51517-77 LMA (1,500-2,500) C&R – Lot 3440
