*UNUSUAL SMALL BORE GEORG KNAAK BOXLOCK EJECTOR DRILLING.

SN 4408. Cal. 20 x 20 x 25/35 WIN (?). 2-3/4″ chambers. 26-3/8″ Bbls with full length slightly raised matted rib have pop-up U-notch rear sight, and silver bead front. Milled out portion of rib is engraved “Deutsche Waffenfabrik Georg Knaak, Berlin S.W. 48″. Bbl flats are stamped with German imperial proofs for 20 ga. Rifle bbl is stamped for caliber 6.5 x 52 (25/35 Winchester ?). (No proof date found) Coin finished, ogee backed, boxlock action features Greener type side safety, rifle/ shotgun selector on tang, pin type cocking indicators, crossbolt third fastener, side clips, and dbl triggers (front set). Action is engraved in well cut typical Germanic scrolling acanthus with shaded background surrounding well done vignettes of game animals; a fox on left, roe buck and doe on right, and a red stag and hind on trigger plate. A running rabbit is on trigger guard bow. Dense, fiddle figured and lightly streaked European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/2″ over red Old English pad, and features small shadow line right hand cheekpiece, diamond hand with inlet horn drop points, and point pattern checkering, as well as a steel trap cartridge holder on toe line with scroll engraving matching that of action, and with the head of a roebuck. Matching splinter ejector forend has Deeley release. Bore diameter: left -.630, right – .629. Bore restrictions: left – .030 (full), right – .021 (mod). Wall thickness: left – .030, right – .029. Drop at heel: approx 2-1/2″, drop at comb: approx 1-7/16″. Cast: neutral. Weight: 7 lbs. 0 oz. LOP: 14-1/2”. PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, as partially refinished. Bbls retain approx 90 – 95% of what appears to be orig blue, with some scattered flecking, thinning a bit on sides. Action retains nearly all of its french grey, brightened on beads and fences. Stocks retain essentially all of a very well done hand rubbed oil finish, details sharpened, checkering re-cut, pad new. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are slightly out of time. An exceptionally fine scarce small bore drilling; the addition of ejectors is extraordinary. 50594-41 MGM242 (5,500-8,500) C&R – Lot 3433
