MARX MERRY MAKERS WITH ORIGINAL BOX.

A classic as well as comical toy manufactured by Marx in the 1920s and 1930s. Four mice with cone shaped faces each are either dancing or playing a musical instrument, sitting/standing about an upright piano. Even the piano is lithographed with various mice on all 3 sides. The box itself pictures many different mice in a stage setting with various musical instruments. The mental state of the person who perceived this toy we must wonder about. Perhaps it would be more believable of a mouse chasing after cheese than playing a violin or for that matter playing the piano. One can only wonder the thought process of the young child opening this toy for Christmas…. truly a most whimsical and classic toy of the time period. Toy is tested and is in working order. Box has distress and for the most part missing the lid. SIZE: 9-1/2″ w x 9″ t. CONDITION: Overall the litho is bright and shiny with some minimal wear to where the drummer taps the drum and elsewhere on edges or corners but very fine plus condition. 1-14239 (400-800) – Lot 3419
