Cal. 20 ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 26″ Demi-bloc bbls are fitted with solid, matted rib, and are marked “GEBRUDER MERKEL SUHL” and “GERMANY” on ejector bosses, which also have oak leaf and acorn engraving. Breech section of bottom bbl is stamped with DDR nitro proofs with proof date of 2/52. Coin finished double Kersten OU action features non-automatic safety (SAFE engraved), raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators, detachable locks with takedown pin camouflaged with flap on left lockplate, as well as Miller single selective trigger. Action is engraved with near full coverage scrolling oak branches, leaves, and acorns, with some geometric borders. Lockplates are engraved with canine and bird scenes; left lock with setter pointing covey of quail running and taking flight as rabbit scurries off to the right. Right lockplate depicts a surprised dachshund, mouth agape, looking on as a fox bounds through brush and three pheasant flush. Oak leaf motif extends to blued steel trigger guard. Lightly streaked, and finely fiddle figured European walnut hard rubber capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4″ over black leather covered pad, and features chinstrap transition to grip, which has multi-point pattern checkering with line borders on points. A vacant silver oval is on toe line. Matching 3-pc ejector forend has Deeley release. Bore diameter: top -.627, bottom – .626. Bore restrictions: top – .021 (mod), bottom – .007 (IC). Wall thickness: top – .027, bottom – .029. Drop at heel: 2-3/4″, drop at comb: 1-9/16″. Cast: Neutral. Weight: 6 lbs. 8 oz. LOP: 14-1/4″. CONDITION: Fine, as refinished. Bbls retain 95% quality renewed black. Coin finish of action shows considerable cleaning with some remaining pits, most engraving still clear. Stocks retain nearly all of a well done hand rubbed oil finish, checkering competently re-cut. Bores are excellent, with evidence of dent removal about 12″ behind muzzle on bottom of bottom bbl.
