LARGE DENT MACK DUMP TRUCK.The Dent Hardware Co. of Fullerton, PA manufactured a bevy of various iron toys from the late 1800s up until the mid 1930s. Mack trucks was located in Allentown, PA just moments from Dent Hardware Co. so it was a natural occurrence that Dent would emulate Mack vehicles in toy size. Dent produced four different style Mack trucks of this magnitude/size, a flatbed with stakes, the American Oil Co tank truck, a dump truck and a screen sided moving van. This particular vehicle is the dump truck with a handle on the drivers side that would allow the child to raise the dump body and a flip tail gate could then be opened and the “load” could be emptied onto the ground. Massive in size this was just one of a handful of huge iron toys produced by the various toy makers during this time period. Overall length is 15″! The cab and chassis enameled in red with a dark green dump body. Any highlighting is done is gilt trim. Toy features cast iron spoked wheels with simulated silver painted tires. Driver is painted in a robins egg blue and is holding the steering wheel. SIZE: 15″ long. CONDITION: Overall condition is very good plus with uniform paint chipping and there are no breaks and/or repairs which is quite unusual due to the frailty and size of this toy. 1-14175 (1,000-1,500) – Lot 3370 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2014 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
