LARGE DENT AMERICAN OIL MACK TRUCK.

The Dent Hardware Co. of Fullerton, PA manufactured a bevy of various iron toys from the late 1800s up until the mid 1930s. Mack trucks was located in Allentown, PA just moments from Dent Hardware Co. so it was a natural occurrence that Dent would emulate Mack vehicles in toy size. Dent produced four different style Mack trucks of this magnitude/size. This particular one depicting an oil truck with the embossed lettering “American Oil Co.” Massive in size this was just one of a handful of huge iron toys produced by the various toy makers during this time period. Overall length is 15-1/2″! Toy framework is enameled in red and the tank body itself is a light gray. Any highlighting is done is gilt trim. Toy features cast iron spoked wheels with simulated silver painted tires. Driver appears to be nickel plated and holding the steering wheel. SIZE: 15-1/2″ long. CONDITION: Overall condition is very good plus with uniform paint chipping and there are no breaks and/or repairs which is quite unusual due to the frailty and size of this toy. 1-14174 (1,250-1,750) – Lot 3369
