SN 8182. Cal. 20 ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 25″ and 26″ Chopper lump bbls are fitted with Churchill ribs which are gold inlaid “1” or “2” at breech ends. Tops of bbls are engraved with steel type and “Flli PIOTTI ITALY”. Bbl flats have 1985 Italian nitro proofs, and bottoms of right bbls are engraved with importer (W. L. Moore Westlake, CA) and model. Classically case hardened Holland style sidelock action features non-automatic safety, H&H type detachable locks, and single non-selective trigger. Action and lockplates are engraved in H&H “Royal” style with full coverage large, shaded, open scroll interspersed with smaller bits of scroll surrounding makers name gold inlaid in arched device on each lockplate. Small bow single beaded blued trigger guard with matching scroll on bow, has SN on tang. Superb and attractive, fiddle figured and finely marbled flesh-toned European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/4″ over checkered wood butt, and features drop points, and diamond hand with classic point pattern checkering. Matching splinter ejector forend with Anson release fits both sets of bbls. BBL set “1” 25″: Bore diameter: left -.622, right – .623. Bore restrictions: left – .015 (Mod), right – .010 (IC). Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Cast: Neutral. Weight: 5 lbs. 8 oz. LOP: 14-1/4″. BBL set “2” 26″: Bore diameter: left -.622, right – .622. Bore restrictions: left – .030 (full), right – .015 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Cast: Neutral. Weight: 5 lbs. 9 oz. LOP: 14-1/4″. Brown leather case with stitched leather corners by Nizzoli is lined in scarlet cloth with Piotti black leather label in lid. Case has space for both sets of bbls and contains a pair of snap caps and the key. PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, very close to new with only a few light handling and assembly marks on wood and metal, most notably some compressions on fields around lockplates, with two on right side top rear, and two somewhat lighter on left side bottom rear. Bores are excellent. Mechanically crisp. Case leather is excellent, with a number of scuffs and rubs. Interior somewhat soiled.
