PAIR OF PRATT & LETCHWORTH HORSE DRAWN PLEASURE VEHICLES.The first toy is a hansom cab and as typical of Pratt & Letchworth, they paid great attention to detail in both the horse and cab. Circa 1880s-90s, the fine and delicate castings include such accoutrements as side lamps and a rear step to the seated driver. The second toy is a 2-seat open carriage. Also as typical of P&L, they employed a fine and delicate framework under the carriage body. Carriages are enameled in black with yellow pinstripe wheels and various colors highlighting other trim work. In both cases, a caramel colored horse with elaborately painted saddle and trappings further add to the appeal of these toys. Both toys have a seated driver with movable arms (older replacements). SIZE: 12″ & 15″ l, respectively. CONDITION: Overall good in both cases. Hansom cab has a replaced front directional wheel on horse’s front hoof and the horse appears to have some paint touch up to the caramel coloring. Second carriage rear seat is loose and missing pin that attaches it to the pressed steel body of the carriage. 1-14254 (600-1,200) – Lot 3344 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2014 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
