SN 9759. Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4′ Chambers. 28″ Demi-bloc bbls fitted with solid matted rib, are engraved “Flli PIOTTI” on left side of top bbl. Bbl flat is stamped with 2002 Italian nitro proofs and importers name and address (BSA). Beautifully filed, coin finished, low profile OU action features non-automatic safety, line engraved tumbler end cocking indicators, and single non-selective trigger. Action is engraved with an unusual treatment of feathers of various birds arranged as scroll surrounding other vignettes of birds; a quail on left side, dove on right, and bottom of action depicts a pair of quail on ground with a pair of doves resting on tree branch. Rear sides of action and lockplates continue the theme with a pair of pointers, one pointing, and one honoring, a trio of quail flushing from desert environment on left side. Right side depicts a large flock of doves erupting from meadow with pointing pointer and hunter toward rear. Hunter has taken a shot, and one dove is falling, with puff of feathers in the air. Makers name is at bottom of each sideplate scene. Single beaded small bow trigger guard has portrait of quail on bow, and SN inlaid in gold on tang. Engravers signature and date “Pasotti 2002″ are on trigger plate. Well marbled and lightly figured European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14-5/8″ over thin brown leather covered pad, and features drop points and typical point pattern checkering. Matching one piece forend has Anson type release. Bore diameter: top -.729, bottom – .728. Bore restrictions: top – .011 (lt mod), bottom – .014 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-3/8″, drop at comb: 1-7/16″. Cast off approx 1/2″. Weight: 7 lbs. 4 oz. LOP: 14-5/8”. Dark leather case with stitched leather corners by Nizzoli, has green canvas trimmed outer cover, and is lined in royal blue cloth. Gold embossed black leather Piotti label is stitched into lid. Case contains a pair of Piotti marked snap caps and oil bottle, along with 2-pc walnut and brass cleaning rod with brushes, etc. as well as bags for action and bbls. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, with evidence of very limited field use, with only a few light handling and assembly marks on all orig factory finishes. Mechanically crisp. Case is excellent. Outer cover has some rubs, as does interior cloth. This gun has a present retail of over $70,000.00, without extra for special engraving.
