Orig numbers on slide and bbl have been X-d out with a matching number to the frame, stamped at a later date. Frame and slide are “WaA 135” inspected. “cyq” marked bbl. “jvd” marked magazine. Accompanied by black leather flap holster marked on back “bla/1944” Eagle WaA159 and “P38”. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Collection Of Noted Expert And Author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Very good as properly arsenal refinished. Markings are clear. Some slight pitting under finish in a few areas on frame. Excellent working order. Bore is good with light pitting. Grips with light handling marks. Holster with light scuff marks, strong stitching and slits in front from period GI embellishment. C&R IMPORT 2) MAUSER P38. SN 2629w. Cal. 9mm. 5″ bbl marked “P.38”, “byf 44” on left side of slide. Matching SN on slide, frame, and bbl. WaA 135 proofs on right side of slide, as well as rare HZa mark. Post-war Austrian BH marking on left side of frame just after SN. Brown Bakelite grips. This gun is explained in further detail on p. 224, pictured on p. 225 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. III by Warren Buxton. Unmarked magazine.
