SN E704. Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 27-1/2″ Demi-bloc bbls with matted, ventilated rib are engraved “IVO FABBRI – BRESCIA” and “VACUUM ARC REMELTING STEEL” on top bbl either side of rib. Bbl flat is stamped with 1988 Italian nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers. Coin finished, low profile, Fabbri action with hand detachable sidelocks, has takedown screws located under pivoting flip-up trap door on left at top front of each lockplate and at rear of left plate. Action features non-automatic safety (SAFE engraved) and single non-selective trigger. Action is engraved with near full coverage exceptionally well cut small scroll with rose and foliate highlights surrounding finely rendered portrait of springer spaniel sitting in open field with fence row in background. Lockplates are fully engraved with Bulino scenes; spaniel surprising a trio of grouse in open meadow on left side, and on right a pair of pheasant taking wing over small woodland pond with conifers in background, as spaniel looks on. “IVO FABBRI” is engraved at bottom of both sides of action. Engraving is signed “C Tomasoni” at bottom front of each lockplate scene and on trigger plate. Small bow trigger guard has fine scroll matching that of action on bow, and SN is on tang. A small crest of shield with three vertical arrows flanked by lion and unicorn is on top lever. Interesting, intricately marbled and stump figured, European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14-3/4″ over black Decelerator pad. Rounded tear shaped drop points are behind lockplates. Point pattern checkering with line borders is at grip. A vacant gold oval is on toe line. Matching full one piece forend has Anson type release in slightly wrapped forend tip. Bore diameter: top -.728, bottom – .728. Bore restrictions: top – .007 (IC), bottom – .009 (IC). Drop at heel: 1-7/8″, drop at comb: 1-5/16″. Cast off approx 1/4″. Weight: 7 lbs. 1 oz. LOP: 14-3/4″. High quality tan leather case with stitched leather corners by Nizzoli, has Ivo Fabbri paper label in lid along with charge card for this gun. Case is lined in burgundy cloth, and contains some cleaning equipment. CONDITION: Excellent, showing evidence of light field use, with a few light handling and assembly marks on wood and metal. Wood finish on butt is slightly water marked and dry. Mechanically excellent. Case leather is fine with some light soiling and scuffs. Straps and handle are very fine. Interior shows some rubs.
