FAMILLE ROSE PHOENIX BOWL.China, Guangxu mark and of the period. The bowl decorated with four phoenix in flight surrounded by colorful vines and flowers. An iron red and gilt band accenting the top rim and foot. Comes with a finely carved wood stand with openwork of the same period. SIZE: 3-1/2″ h x 8-1/4″ dia. PROVENANCE: Estate of a Midwestern Public University Chancellor who died in the late 1930’s. This Chancellor was invited to speak in China in 1930s, and visited Japan and India where he acquired this item. CONDITION: Very good, one tiny glaze pop at the rim. 49918-2 (3,000-5,000) – Lot 3315
