RARE UNMARKED UNIQUE SWORD CANE.

Unusual sword cane that is about 35-1/2″ overall with beautiful right angle stag handle and engraved, hallmarked 1-1/4″ sterling silver collar at the joint between the handle & shaft. Shaft appears to be made of bamboo and has a 4-3/16″ brass tip. Bottom of the tip has a small keyhole shaped flap that when opened exposes a square 3-3/4″ blade that is extended by gravity. One side of the blade has a flat spring lock that engages when the blade is extended. The shaft has a curious set of 1/2″ oval escutcheons, one on each side with connecting through hole with no discernible purpose. Altogether a most unusual and unique weapon. CONDITION: Very fine. Handle shows heavy wear with a wonderful dark golden patina. The silver collar shows heavy wear. Shaft is sound with numerous small nicks & scratches and shows generous amounts of orig finish. The brass tip is bright & clean as is the blade. 51701-7 JRL (500-750) – Lot 3259
