*VERY FINE CUSTOM J.E. GEBBY SINGLE SHOT CALIBER .22 VARMINTER.SN 485. Cal. 22 Varminter. Manufactured by custom gunsmith and ballistician. J.E. Gebby custom heavy bbl Varminter with 27″ bbl, wide target forearm and custom pistol grip buttstock with high comb cheek rest and checkered steel buttplate. Double set Winchester triggers with Schuetzen pattern Winchester lever mounted on a commercially finished Winchester Model 1885 high wall single shot action. J.E. Gebby, one of the three principal inventors of the 22 Varminter cartridge now known as the 22-250. He commercially sold his bbls and rifles to target- and varmint-shooting enthusiasts. Rifle has an 8″ case color Unertl scope base mounted on bbl top. CONDITION: Very fine overall, with virtually all of its period custom finish intact. Bore and mechanics are very fine with double set triggers functioning properly. Nicely figured 2-pc walnut stocks retain most all of their somewhat contemporary gloss finish. A stock repair on right side of wrist is evident, however, suffers very slight material loss but is quite stable. A number of very slight nicks and scratches are evident on the flat-based target forearm as well as very light scratches in butt stock towards buttplate.
