SHARPS NEW MODEL 1868 SADDLE RING CARBINE CONVERSION U.S. ISSUE.

SN 89281. Cal. 50-70; 22″ bbl. Blue and case colored finish. Straight grain American walnut stocks. D.F.C. inspected. All markings standard for this model. Saddle ring has been removed. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl shows a gray brown patina overall. Model mark and bbl address have been obliterated during conversion. Carbines sights are good. Bore is frosty with visible rifling. Receiver is a silver gray patina with slight traces of case color around hammer. Receiver marks are legible. Lock mark is legible. SN is sharp. Saddle ring bar has been removed with the hold plugged and plate filed flat. Stocks are very good. D.F.C. cartouche is stamped on left side of buttstock. Cartouche is sharp and clear. This is a nice example of a Sharps conversion carbine many of which were issued to Texas Rangers after the Civil War. 51726-2 TEP (2,750-3,000) – Lot 3246
