HANDEL NAUTICAL TABLE LAMP.Handel reverse painted shade has nighttime scene of ships in a harbor with orange and gray cloudy sky. There are orange reflections in the water and a full moon behind the ships. When the lamp is lit, the full moon is bright and reflects in the water between the ships. The backside of the shade is painted with a single, gnarly tree on the shoreline with green leaves. Shade is signed on the interior “Handel 7112” along with artist’s signature “Palme”. Shade rests on a Handel base with oriental style openwork foot and a gargoyle head on each side with a ring hanging below. Base has a 3 socket cluster and fleur de lis heat cap. Base is impressed on the side near foot “Handel” and is finished in a dark brown patina. SIZE: Shade: 17-3/4″ dia. Lamp: 24″ t. CONDITION: Shade is very good to excellent with a few minor areas of clouding to the backside of the paint which does not show through when lit. There is an oval air bubble visible on the backside of the shade near tree with a tiny opening in center of the bubble, otherwise very good. Base is very good to excellent with some minor discoloration to finish and some tiny white paint spatters. 5-69493 (6,000-8,000) – Lot 3241
