*FINELY APPOINTED AND ENGRAVED, GOLD INLAID “LEOPARD”, WINCHESTER MODEL 70 CUSTOM SHOP RIFLE PICTURED ON THE COVER OF THE CATALOG FOR THE CUSTOM SHOP OF WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS COMPANY, WITH SCOPE AND BOX.

SN G18. Cal. 338 Winchester Magnum. Most likely part of a series of rifles made by the custom shop honoring the “big five”. This finely made custom rifle is gold inlaid “Leopard” on top of 24″ round lightweight bbl with Winchester “CUSTOM CLASSIC” markings. A folding adjustable leaf rear sight is in screwed on island base, and silver bead front is in streamlined base with hood. Breech end of bbl has 1″ triangles of scroll with inlaid gold line matching that around muzzle. Coin finished Model 70 controlled feed action fitted with Talley type detachable scope blocks, is engraved with near full coverage well cut small scroll within gold line inlaid borders. Engravers signature, “Geid Rausch” is on top of sidewall. Bolt with jeweled body has engraved shroud and bolt root matching action. Knob has ring of knurling outlined by gold lines, and engraved feather burst on end. Bottom metal has matching scroll and gold borders surrounding exceptionally well detailed full relief rendition of gold leopard leaping down from large old gnarled tree. This fine engraving extends to grip cap, which also has a relief head of snarling leopard. Nicely marbled European walnut pistol grip stock measures 13-3/4″ over brown leather covered pad, and features shadow line right hand cheekpiece, ebony forend tip, engraved recoil crossbolt, and borderless point pattern checkering. Leupold Vari-X III 2.5 x 8 scope with duplex reticle is in Talley type rings engraved to match action. Drop at heel: approx 1-5/8″, drop at comb: approx 1-3/4″. Cast: Neutral. Weight without scope: 8 lbs. 2 oz. LOP: 13-3/4″. Rifle is accompanied by its orig white box with red Winchester logo, with end label for this particular rifle, with an order date of 6/22/90. PROVENANCE: Winchester Custom Guns “literature” with this gun pictured on the cover. CONDITION: Excellent, essentially NIB, with the faintest of handling marks on all fine finishes.
