SN 254175. Cal. 30-06. 23″ One third octagon, 2/3 round, bbl with integral rib, specially milled and thinned as usually found on Sauer rifles, is engraved “Von Lengerke & Dettmold Inc New York, NY U.S. Agents” on milled out portion of rib. Makers name is on top left flat, and caliber along with “Made in Germany” on right. Fluid steel information is around shank. One standing, two folding leaf U-notch rear sight is marked for 100, 200, and 300 yards. Silver bead front is covered by slip-on protector. Commercial Mauser Model 98 standard length action is checkered on top of receiver ring. Color case hardened bolt retains classic pear-shaped knob checkered on top and bottom, and has long cocking piece, and orig flag safety. Bottom metal with dbl pull single trigger has hinged floorplate with release button in trigger guard bow. Plain European walnut hard rubber capped pistol grip stock measures 14″ over steel buttplate, and has closely spaced point pattern checkering at grip and forend. Stock also features raised reinforcing side panels, slim schnabeled forend, and non-captive side nail secondary attachment of stock to bbl. A sling loop matching that on bbl, as well as a silver oval engraved “OFB”, are on toe line. Drop at heel: approx 3″, drop at comb: approx 1-7/8″. Cast: Neutral. Weight: 7 lbs. 14 oz. LOP: 14″. CONDITION: Excellent, as partially refinished. Blued parts have been enhanced, but show little evidence of re-polish. Case hardening on bolt is original.
