91ST OLDENBURG INFANTRY REGIMENT ENLISTED MAN’S HELMET MODEL 1867.

Rare black lacquered leather body that was made with out back spine. This pattern of helmet was only used for 2 years. Helmet body in excellent form and firm stitching. Interior has enlisted style tab liner. Marked inside back visor “OJR91”. No extra holes in body. Frontplate is the early style Prussian Herald eagle with the silver emblem of Oldenburg in center. Frontplate affixes to helmet with rare Model 67 slip posts. Tall spike with pearl ringed base for em 67. Flat brass chinscales on screw style rosettes. Single Oldenburg cockade on right side of helmet. Extremely rare early style helmet. PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Overall very good plus inside and out. Leather liner slightly dry due to age. Metal trim in excellent condition. 51586-70 RT (2,750-3,500) – Lot 3195
