PRUSSIA 6TH KURASSIER (TSAR NICHOLAS OF RUSSIA’S REGIMENT) OFFICER’S HELMET MODEL 1889-1899.

Beautiful Tombac “Lobster Tail” officer’s helmet with silver trim. Frontplate is the silver Prussian Heraldic style. Helmet body in good form but unpolished. Several small dents on left side of bell over Prussian cockade. Interior has leather flat tabbed liner with draw string. Back visor lined with black leather. Front visor lined with green leather. Frontplate is a silver heraldic Prussian eagle in silver. Crown is voided. Holes behind frontplate have been widen by approx. 5mm on each side. Additional small extra hole in back of bell underneath cross base. Two paper stamps inside helmet bell from maker, probably not genuine. Kurassier style silver crossed spike base with fluted tombac spike. Gilded brass rounded chinscales on clover leaf rosettes. Reichs and Prussian style 2 piece officer cockades. Possibly a Diensthelme (service helmet). PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Good overall. Helmet has never been polished so overall appearance shows copper brown oxidation. Chinscales and Kleeblatten should be Tombac. Underneath Reichs cockade is small separation to silver metal trim. 51586-37 RT (3,500-5,500) – Lot 3187
