PRUSSIAN GUARD’S INFANTRY REGIMENT’S OFFICER’S HELMET MODEL 1897-1916.

Black lacquered helmet body with gilded brass trim. Body has excellent form and strong stitching. No extra holes in helmet body. Interior has sweat leather a silk head liner. Inner visors colored. Frontplate is a Prussian guard’s regiment eagle with banner. On eagle’s breast is the silver and enameled star of the Prussian Guard’s Eagle Order. Smooth spike in the pattern of 1916 that is removable at the base like the EM1915. Flat chinscales in the style of 1916 fitted over an M91 lug. Reichs and Prussian officer’s cockades. All metal trim has fine gilding and pre-war quality with the exception of the chinscales which do have zinc underlay. PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Excellent inside and out. Exterior finish nearly perfect.
