EXCEPTIONAL 5-1/2″ COLT MODEL 1862 POLICE PERCUSSION REVOLVER.

SN 33942. Cal. 36. This gun conforms to other model 1862 revolvers being blue and color case hardened with 5-1/2″ rnd bbl, brass pin front sight and 1-line New-York U.S. America address. Left side of frame has a small “COLTS PATENT”. Left side of trigger guard is stamped “36CAL”. Brass trigger guard & backstrap contain a 1-pc varnished walnut grip. Cylinder is typical to this model with rebated half flutes. This gun, based on SN, was made just after the Civil War in 1866. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Phil A. Bleakney, Jr. CONDITION: Excellent overall. All matching including wedge. Bbl and cylinder retain about 90% orig bright blue with small loss near muzzle and loss at left side lug, small nicks and scratches. Frame, loading assembly and hammer retain most of their bright orig case colors, with balance turning silver/blue. Trigger guard & backstrap retain traces of their orig silver plating with balance of yellow patina. Grip is sound and solid and well-fit retaining about 98% of its orig bright varnish with light edge wear.
