PRUSSIAN 4TH GRENADIER REGIMENT (KING FREDERICK THE GREAT) RESERVE OFFICER’S HELMET MODEL 1897-AFTER 1913.

Black lacquered leather helmet body with gilt brass trim. Helmet has good form and firm stitching. Holes widened behind frontplate in helmet body by 4mm. Interior has sweat leather and silk head liner. Sweat leather torn under right ear section. Interior visors colored. Marked on back visor with button “Size 55-1/2”. Frontplate is the wide winged Prussian Guard Grenadier eagle. On eagle’s tail is a silver reserve cross. Above eagle’s head is a metal banner with the date “1626”. Spike base with star retainers. Flat chinscales with rosettes. Officer’s Reichs and Prussian cockades. PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Overall very good plus. Front eagle retains 90% of fire gilding. Metal banner shows deep form into leather body.
