FRENCH PATINATED BRONZE ATHENA CLOCK.

Circa 1850. The case, themed modeled after the goddess of war. The classical bust with plumed helmet at top. Tapering square case cast with trophies of war and with sheathed sword entwined with snake. On a conforming plinth case with Athemion leaves raised on suppressed reeded ball feet. The silvered dial with Roman numeral chapter ring and time and strike apertures within an ormolo brass surround cast with five-pointed stars. The French eight day brass movement striking the hour and half-hour on a soft bell. Backplate incised with the letter “R” and serial number “422”. SIZE: 14-3/4″ h x 5-1/4″ overall w x 5″ d. CONDITION: Case surfaces with minimal and minor abrasions. Dial with abrasions around winding aperture, primarily between numerals IIII and V. Movement in good working order.
