TWO DU PONT NATIONAL PERPETUAL ADVERTISING DISPLAY CALENDARS.Patented 1909, American. Original calendars with rotating disc for days of the week above stack of numerals 1-31 for days of the month behind a series of annual calendars from 1917-1926, all over rotating disc displaying the days of the week above a rectangular aperture. On reverse of calendar, mounted to back of tin board are illustrated instructions for calendar. Tin backing headed by the name of “DU PONT” above two columns displaying products produced and advertised by the various Du Pont companies, listed at the bottom of the plaque centering a hinged door with lithographic panel decorated with a scene from a painting by Stanley Massey Arthurs (1877-1950), and signed S.M. Arthurs, 1916. Painting of E.I. Du Pont de Nemours discussing the location of his first American powder mill with Thomas Jefferson at base of hinged lithograph. SIZE: 28-3/4″ l x 19″ w. PROVENANCE: From a private Massachusetts collection. CONDITION: Both examples in original condition with slight surface soiling. Date cards somewhat yellowed and with wear from usage, otherwise good. One example missing the numeral 1, otherwise good. Second calendar intact in similar condition to first, noticeable abrasion in area of “Blasting Supplies of all kinds”.
