DERBEND ORIENTAL RUG EASTERN CAUCASUS.

Mid-20th century. Three aligned geometric medallions, the center most pale turquoise flanked by terracotta medallions, all with polychrome angular geometric devices alternating with rows of stylized peacocks, all on a burnt gold field with a dense arrangement of flower heads, tarantulas, botehs and other geometric devices within an ivory main border of polychrome zig-zag lightning bolt elements within multiple turquoise, gold, brick and cream floral guard borders. A tightly woven example with unusual palette and design. SIZE: 8’1″ x 10’1″ CONDITION: Light soiling, rug retains good even pile throughout, some wear and losses to fringe, selvedge good.
