First half 20th century, France. This vibrant painting depicting a large hot air balloon shown directly above the city of Paris, the Eiffel tower and river Seine in the foreground. The balloon painted with the crest of Maison Veuve Clicqout. The passenger gondola with eight figures flying the French flag beneath the company emblematic flag. In the right foreground is painted a cartouche with the phrase “Origine / De Terroir / Exceptionnel” within a border or garlands. SIZE: Overall 32″ h x 44-1/2″ w. CONDITION: Canvas is unframed with light surface soiling and minor abrasion spots primarily along crease line at mid-point of sky and balloon and city foreground.
