ENAMEL AND JEWELED RUSSIAN CROSS.

2nd half 19th century, Russia. This two sided example with blue and green enamels bordered by silvered filament centering a handpainted image of mother and child, each with a halo, additionally set with what appear to be fresh water pearls and a blue/green cabochon. The reverse also enameled centering a lacy scrolling design of gold colored metal filaments or cloisons. The cross suspended on a hinged enameled tulip form hanger. The cross mounted in a custom fitted display box with hinged lid and molded edge and lined in original red velvet. SIZE: Cross 5-3/3″ h x 3-3/4″ w. Case 11-1/2″ h x 6-1/2″ w. CONDITION: Glass panels cracked. Moderate loss to enamels on both sides of cross, otherwise good. 52166-6 (1,000-1,500) – Lot 3151
