Very soft brain tanned buckskin, thread sewn, fringe is across shoulders and pockets, pearl buttons with two missing. SIZE: 26-1/2″ l x 63″ w (across shoulders). PROVENANCE: William Eugene “Pussyfoot” Johnson (25 March 1862 – 2 February 1945), Coventry, NY, Famous prohibitionist. According to Wikipedia, Johnson’s temperance activities earned him governmental notice and he was appointed special agent of the Department of the Interior to enforce laws in Indian Territory and Oklahoma in 1906, probably where the shirt was acquired.
