LOT OF 11 METAL BOXES.

Boxes range in date from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century. All boxes are ornately decorated. Six are silver and five have a brass or gilded finish. Four of the silver boxes have damascene decorations most featuring Middle Eastern or near eastern scenes. Hallmarks are in Arabic. One silver box has embossed Arabic writing throughout, another has debossed decoration with a mother of pearl embellished lid. The gilded and brass boxes also share a damascene style decoration, they feature arabesque/Moorish decoration with the cigarette case having Arabic language panels included in the geometric design. SIZE: Size ranges from 1-1/2″ in circumference to approximately 2-1/2″ x 4″ CONDITION: Boxes generally show light wear and appear complete. One of the silver boxes has extensive verdigris on one end, the box with the mother of pearl lid has losses to silver highlights on the top. The gilded/brass boxes show very little wear however one has areas of verdigris on one side. 51628-1 (800-1,200) – Lot 3146
