CROW TRIBE WOMEN’S DRESS WITH COWRIE SHELLS AND CHEYENNE BEADED DRESS.

First half 20th century. 1) Crow dress decorated in seed beads, cowrie shells and bugle beads, bead colors are light blue, white, green, greasy green, orange, and red. Beaded on blue wool trade cloth with copper colored material edging. 2) Cheyenne beaded dress has seed beads sewn to soft deerskin hide, bead colors are white, orange red, cobalt, light blue, yellow with seed beaded strip designs on yoke, line beaded through center and beaded border on bottom. Profusely fringed on sleeves, sides and bottom. SIZE: 1) 34″ w x 40″ l. 2) 52″ l (with fringe) x 36″ w (across shoulders). CONDITION: 1) Very minor bead loss, some light stains on material. 2) Stiffness to hide and tears at neckline, tear in hide at mid section, in-use wear and spotting. 50620-42 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 3135
