VERY EARLY VELVET ELEPHANT KINGPIN SKITTLE.

From circa 1901-1904, this is a most unusual and collectible velvet elephant sitting on a wooden skittle plinth. This is the kingpin as evidenced by his yellow trimmed red felt jacket and red felt crown. Elephant is unjointed and in the begging position. He has black shoe button eyes, white wooden tusks, and sweet grey ears. This item was produced before Steiff introduced its button in ear trademark. SIZE: Standing: 5″ (13cm). CONDITION: Wear and losses to red felt jacket. Crown missing a few sequins and beads. Light staining and fading to the velvet material. Otherwise very good. 1-14315 (750-1,500) – Lot 3120k
