PREBUTTON ERA STEIFF FELT MONKEY SKITTLE.

From circa 1892-1902, this is a remarkable and hard to find earliest brown felt monkey sitting on a wooden skittle plinth. He has black shoe button eyes, a red belled felt hat, red collar with bell, simple face, tiny felt ears, tan embroidered nose and mouth, and a long tail with a brown tip made from woolen yarn. Produced before Steiff introduced its button in ear trademark. SIZE: Standing 5-1/2″ (14cm). CONDITION: With small holes in red felt collar, small hole in face, and tiny hole in hand, otherwise good to very good. 1-14288 (750-1,500) – Lot 3120i
