FINE CLASSICAL REVIVAL FRENCH BRASS PORTICO CLOCK.

Second half 19th century. Of typical form with burnished brass case. The rectangular case with molded cornice cast with flowers and dentil molding above the frieze applied with a cast floral wreath flanked by lyres, raised on free standing Corinthian columns centering the burnished brass dial within a wreath border. The Roman numeral chapter ring with time and strike apertures, striking on a bell at the hour and half-hour. The movement with count wheel. The backplate stamped with the numeral “386” with original brass pendulum. The brass base with intertwined cast floral wreaths in the apron above the athemion leaf molded plinth raised on square feet. SIZE: 22-1/2″ h x 11″ w x 5-3/4″ d. CONDITION: Burnished brass case in very good condition. Movement appears clean and serviceable, but with broken suspension spring. Otherwise very good. Patinated dore suface has been abraded and worn away on proper left front corner of portico roof. 52335-5 (1,000-1,500) – Lot 3116
