AMUSING NAIVE CARVING OF A TIGER.

Probably American, 2nd half 20th century. Outsider school. Legs and tail are composed of crudely carved sections of tree limb, the body from a tree trunk. It is assembled with nails with some use of filler. Eyes are applied buttons, applied carved ears. Associated with a black painted modern display block. This tiger closely resembles a leopard featured in “American Folk Sculpture” by Robert Bishop, published in 1974, by E.P. Dutton & Co., Inc., New York, page 1 & prologue page. A copy of this book is included with the lot. SIZE: 24″ h x 56″ l x 13″ w. Box: 20″ w x 41″ l x 18″ w.
