SEVEN RARE PIECES OF QUIMPER POTTERY INCLUDING TWO STAND-UP MENUS.

Lot includes 1 & 2): 7″ x 4-1/2″ Porquier-Beau stand-up menus, each decorated with a yellow Fleur-dis-lis and “Menu”. One has a bag piper, the other a woman with basket. The unique feature is that one has a partially written menu. Blue “PB” marked to back (late 19th century) also retaining oval labels from Le Breus. 3) Legends 10″ plate with Breton and Bretonne with dragon. Titled: “Le Diable Trompe (Legende Bretonne) Porquier-Beau mark (late 19th century). Reference: pg 38 for this series by Alfred Beau. 4) 13″ x 17-1/2” oval platter showing a wedding party marked “Noce Bretonne”. The back marked “HB” (late 19th century). 5) 11-1/2″ x 15″ platter decorated with Breton and Bretonne titled “Pont-de-Buis”. Black “HB” mark to reverse (late 19th century). 6) 7-1/4″ x 3-1/2″ leaf dish having “PB” mark (late 19th century) with coat of arms from “Brest”. The leaf dish decorated with flowers (from the Botanical series). 7) 5″ x 6″ shaped plate with a Porquier-Beau mark (late 19th century). The piece decorated with a coat-of-arms “Brest”. SIZE: Sizes as noted above. PROVENANCE: From a private New Jersey collection; 5) Acquired from Sandra Bondhus; 6) Acquired from Joan Datesman. CONDITION: 1 & 2) Some foot roughness, generally very good. 3) Professionally restored, very good. 4) Very good to excellent with some evident unglazed areas in the making. 5) A couple of unglazed areas on rim, very good to excellent. 6) Very good to excellent. 7) Very good.
